Whenever we go camping we seem to end up with a growing pile of dirty laundry in the corner of the “bedroom” (rather a grand term I feel), not the prettiest sight or smell (especially when you share the space with your man, no idea why they smell more than women.) So I wanted to make a quick and easy laundry bag for each of the three of us.
A few months ago my husband went through his rediculous number of T-shirts and got rid of a few, which ended up in my sewing supplies, I thought that these would be ideal to make a laundry bag with minimal effort as half the work is already done for you. There’s a ready made hole to stuff the unmentionables into i.e. the neck hole and the sides are sewn up, also t-shirt fabric doesn’t fray and is very forgiving.
What you need:
1 Unloved t-shirt
Turn T-shirt inside out and cut off the sleeves, including the seams, and the bottom hem so that the seam at the bottom will sit more neatly.
With T-shirt still inside out sew the arm holes closed (you could taper this in more towards the neck hole if you fancy) and across the bottom of the T-shirt to make something resembling a bag.
Turn right way out and hey presto you have 1 laundry bag!
Stand back and admire your 10 minutes of handy work and feel very smug! Problem of piling unsightly laundry solved, and even small children can put their own dirty laundry away, bonus!
Go on, have a go. I would love to hear from you if you’ve made your own version or you have any other ideas on what to re-purpose old T-shirts into. Until next time…
